Pavel G. Kupin
Achievement Award Laureate
Professor Kupin was awarded the inaugural Stolyarsky Honorarium for Excellence in Education, a special edition of the Foundation's Achievement Award named in honor of the founder of the Stolyarsky School, Peter S. Stolyarsky, by a jury co-chaired by the Minister of Culture for Odessa Province, the Director of the Stolyarsky School and the President of the Apogee Foundation during the 2005/2006 academic year.
Professor Kupin is the Stolyarsky School's and the Odessa Conservatory's senior cello instructor and he was himself a student of Mistislav Rostropovich. He has for decades preserved and passed on the great traditions of his teacher and of these preeminent institutions.
He is now the teacher of Aleksander Lisuk, who was judged the top performer of the 2005/2006 audition process for Apogee Merit Scholarships at the Stolyarsky School.
